Helen Sawyer Hogg Conservation Area
The Conservation Commission purchased the lot from Dr. Helen Sawyer Hogg in 1990 for conservation purposes, wildlife habitat and conservation education. A “right of way”(over 16-28-0) from High Street to the lot was included for the Commission to carry out its proper duties and function, but not intending to grant a right of access to the public at large. Managed by the Conservation Commission as a “legacy forest” encouraging the growth of outstanding specimens of whitepine.
Parcel abuts Salmon Brook on entire west side. The Helen Sawyer Hogg Conservation area has been partially designated Core Habitat and Critical Natural Landscape in the Biomap2.
