Volunteer on Projects
When we organize work parties, we will also post a call for volunteers using this list. We have the tools.
Projects (easy to harder) include:
- Clearing fallen branches from trails
- Repairing any trail washouts, holes
- Trimming (widening) trails
- Adding/replacing trail markers and signs
- Occasional larger projects like creating new trails or adding boardwalks in wet areas
Other Ways That Hikers Can Help
- Stay on marked trails — unmarked trails may be private property or have hazards on them — please respect private property
- Avoid damaging trails — if the trails are wet and muddy, please avoid mountain biking and horseback riding until the trails dry and are less prone to erosion.
- Do not leave any litter — Litter includes food scraps. All trails are carry-in, carry-out.
We really appreciate those that sometimes bring a trash bag and take home any litter you find! - Move any sticks or fallen branches off the trail as you hike — help us keep trails clear!
- Report issues you encounter on the trails that you cannot resolve yourself.
- Watch out for and report invasive bugs like the Spotted Lanternfly
